Yes congrats to all! I agree - they are great pics.

If you think Doyle is a good pick you obviously don't know him very well.

U know this blog is crap. My post was deleted and all i said was certain new w/m was a butt kisser. I didn't swear or use any nasty words. If you want this blog to be without criticism of any kind maybe you should start one about another place of employment.

This is for post re morale:

    Webster dictionary "morale,n
    1: morality (moral conduct:virtue)
2: the mental and emotional attitude of an individual to the tasks expected of him/her.

For starters , stop treating us like 5 yr olds, stop breathing down our necks, beating us up (with ridiculous ci#s). Stop the favortisms, (each watch is guilty of this), the game-playing (oh, pco2...you hit med on Saturday,so now you have to call take all day on Sunday, etc etc. This list is endless.

Start giving sincere 'you did a good job' with that chase, fire, hazmat, 10-1 , etc. Ask those regular dispatchers on the killer zones if they want a break or off of it for good. Let them get their nerves settled & brain cells growing again!

Let us know that you will back us up when needed, us pco1s & 2s.Let us good, hard, diligent workers know that you are disciplining the group of lazy, inconsiderate, walk-arounds/stay-on-busy goofs!

Enough from me...........let's hear from the rest of you.

2:06, there was some negative feedback when one of the old floor supervisors used to get people's backs.

The thing is, the best way to have someone's back is to get a complaint or likely complaint buried before its on paper. That way, nobody has to write paper.

One of the now-retired supervisors used to walk up to zones and politely suggest that a dispatcher get a particular job out. In most cases, the job was overdue, though in some cases it was not. In almost all cases, he was asking because it had been brought to his attention for some reason or another, not because he had a hard-on for anyone in particular. I was probably his favorite dispatcher on the floor, and he still did that to me 5 or 6 times over a few years.

You had to understand what he was doing to appreciate it, and maybe it wasn't always explained to everyone. He was asking because the complainer on the phone was worth avoiding more than 10 potential complainers on the board.

So take the easy road, put a unit on it, end of story.

But noooo. A few dispatchers, all friends of mine, just had to make it personal. Don't tell me how to do my job. I'm in a backlog. You want the radio boss?

Geezus Christ, the road to hell is paved with good intentions, ain't it? The guy is trying to help keep people out of trouble, and for this he gets nothing but lip.

Anyway, thats the best practice on how to get your peoples' backs. Make it so they don't have paper to write in the first place, not whitewash an investigation later.

Which is to say, don't let the fragile egos get in the way of a helpful boss. Sometimes, thats all there is between you and the unemployment line, and the helpful bosses are few and far between, at the OEMC or anywhere else.

to 240pm, start your own blog if your post was deleted and you are not happy! Did you use someone's name in a bad way? There are ways of getting your point across and i'm sure you can let us know who you are talking about without giving names. Come on in this job, I'm sure you can be creative!
