    Hey, where are our "uniform checks"???? Though I feel funny calling them "checks" since they aren't REALLY checks anymore! So let us say "uniform allowance added on to our regular paycheck". Wasn't it due on the 1st of February? It always used to come on the 1st of February...

    The wake for Officer Jose Vazquez will take place at the Montclair-Lucania Funeral Home, 6901 W. Belmont, from 1400 hours to 2100 hours, 15 Feb 07. St. Jude will meet at 1900 hours on 15 Feb 07. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Resurrection Church, 2840 W. Nelson at 1000 hours, on 16 Feb 07.

    The new boss in no way shape or form is like the old boss !
    The new boss is a human being
    not Rosemary's baby all grown up.
    Since day one (9 yrs ago) Mr Simmons has been nothing but kind to me, critized constructively, and advised me when I needed help dealing with some of these field bosses, and worked with me when I had a family tragedy and needed some time. I can't speak for the rest of the room just for myself, but I believe he is as genuine as they get. Good luck Mr Simmons.
    It's been a pleasure having you as a Watch Manager. ( ps most the time lol!)

    10:44am , That's great that you think so highly of the new D/D RS, I however, have had numerous past dealings with him, that have not had such positive outcomes. I dont think very highly of him at all. As a boss nor as a decent person. And No, it is not because I am some asshole employee. I come to work on time, barely use the medical, and am not a loud mouth idiot. I come to work, do my job, and go home.
    There is no reason for him not to treat everyone equally. And quite franly, he doesn't. He has his favorites; and WE ALL KNOW IT.

    However; I AM very happy that he is the new Dep. Dir.
    Things can only get better. Let's hope!!

    1150 I'm sorry to hear that. I too haven't always struck a good chord with another WM who has since retired (Thank God) so I know the feeling.
    Maybe working in this capacity
    DDRS may be of a benefit to you.
    Either way, in this joint we all just learn to roll with the punches.

    A brief history of Marista K for those who don't know.

    She is the daughter of former Lieutenant K of the 8th district. Stepdaughter of PO Leona K who used to work zone 6 quite a bit in or until the mid-90s.

    Hired as a civilian dispatcher in, I believe, 1995 or 1996. She was something like the 80th or 100th hired off of a list, perhaps a bit higher, perhaps a bit lower.

    She was not the BEST dispatcher ever, but she did spend some time on fast zones in the '90s on 3rd/PM Power/1st.

    Can't remember if she was even ever a supervisor (promotions based on a somewhat fuzzy process, but whatever), but she was elevated to deputy director of police operations in something like a quadruple promotion in 2003 or 2004? No legitimate basis whatsoever for the promotion.

    By way of comparison, her predecessors in that particular role included T. Folliard (former commander of 009), J. Robinson (former commander of the OEC), and maybe one or two others.

    Don't get me wrong, someone with a strong communications background belongs in that office, and the farther removed from the CPD the better. But there is no way that ANYBODY could ever justify that promotion as reasonable or legitimate.

    Amazing that the reporters never caught onto it. Than again, maybe its not so amazing. After all, she was promoted during the tenure of Huberman, himself a triple or quadruple promotee out of grade, and she worked under PO AV and quite a few others whose positions could not be defended as reasonable either.

    Anyway, if you think of lieutenant K from 008 from awhile back, think about MK as his offspring promoted about two grades higher than him, while possessing about the same personality.

    Which is to say, she's about as popular as her pops was.

    And your correction makes no difference. Its not like Acting is civil service and actual is not. They are both exempt, and subject to hiring and firing at the whim of the mayor.

    Thank you , Sgt Saunders , for the confirmation of the IQ level of our new DD ...RS. He drives a BIG p/u truck , (compensating for his petite physique??) and parks on the north side of our parking lot which is designated for COMPACT cars (signs are posted, for anyone that has a reading level equal to RS)! So far, he is more concerned getting a certain PCO2 to get the ball rolling on fund raising for March of Dimes & WTTW than real OEMC problems (broken chairs, consoles, etc). Looks like he just wants to have his mug plastered all over the paper & tv!
