By now everyone should have had a chance to sit through our training department's presentation. Well, what do you think of it, worth it? waste of time? Something you would like to see in a roll call training?
total waste of time....they are putting a bandage on the cancer again. training is a joke. they go over and over the sops in such a assanine way that most people don't remember one word that was said. then pound all the computer commands in at the same time. it is amazing that anyone remembers anything and can function on the floor.
it's a F'n joke-I don't know how many people they have in training but it's WAY too many-most of the lard asses sit in their office and eat all day. I could go on and on about the clout baby's but then I would have to include the goofs detailed to the second floor who walk around all day doing nothing. It's amazing how one of them couldn't walk except for with a cane and then when she was allowed to go to the second floor, now she can walk around with her CFM pumps like she is going out on a date.
Skinner Park Picnic has been expanded to cover all three watches and power shifts.
It starts at 2200 hours on Friday night 24 August and will continue until 2200 on Saturday the 25th.
If lunches on 1st watch are cancelled...we will even deliver!!!!
Marquette Park Starts at 0600 on Sunday morning the 26th of August...
There are a few other plans in the works for a couple of get togethers at local adult beverage serving establishments...one for after afternoons and one for after days...please check back here for more details.
To our "Training Dept", this one's for you (posted on SCC today in the Taking it Easy post:

I have on more than one occassion and can not believe what has occurred. The calltakers can not fluently and articulately speak English. This wastes valuable time by having to needlessly repeat yourself and poses a liability to the City of Chicago if some shrewd attorney loops this into a class action lawsuit.
The calltakers also have no clue how to ask questions in relation to what is relevant and what would aid responding officers.
Politics and political correctness have permeated OEC. I was so aggravated by my experieces that I wanted to file CR#'s, I didn't but can't believe what is going on. If it happens again,I will.
Now I can see how the Durkin Park incident happened.
hey numb nuts, since when does anyone in the "training department" or any other OEMC department have to teach people to speak proper, articulate English? it was my understanding that the personnel department was supposed to screen applicants and weed out poor candidates through the testing and interview process. I seem to recall when I went through training oh so many years ago I was taught to ask the who, what, where, when, why, and how. not what the caller had for lunch or why they wanted to go to the Manhole. common sense should kick in at some point, but it seems that there is a shortage of that particular trait. that is just the way I feel, but by all means continue to use the training department as the scape goat for all the faults of the OEMC. after all, they are just a bunch of lard ass clout babies who nothing at all about anything.
I want to say THANK YOU to everyone who helped raise the money we needed.
I was overwhelmed by the turn out at Skinner Park, Marquette Park and at Casto's.
We had a steady stream of people at Skinner Park coming over on their lunch or break. We had visits from some off duty police dispatchers, fire dispatchers, police officers and a few on duty beat cars too. Unfortunately we were stopped in our tracks at the park because of the rain. The geese were swimming in the puddles while we were packing up. We were soaked!
There was a good turn out at Marquette Park too. Bean bags were tossed...burgers and beverages were consumed!
Casto's was PACKED.
Thank you to all of the Call Takers, Dispatchers and Supervisors, both on the Police and Fire side who were there either on your day off or after work. It's great to be able to chat with each other for a few minutes without someone interrupting and talking in our ears!
A Very Special Thank You to all of the Police Officers and CFD personnel who came out to show their support for the voices on the other side of the radio too. It was a pleasure to see so many familiar faces and hear so many familiar voices. Always nice to put a face with a name/voice/beat number.
We had a few raffle prizes and did a split the pot raffle which was again donated right back to the cause!
It really makes me smile to think that even though everyone always bickers back and forth about almost anything and everything we can ALL come together to support two of our own.
