Rumor is because of all of his transgressions regarding the illegal tampering/changing of the evaluation in question, not to mention the inspector general has been investigating this matter for some time now, he was given the option to retire or be terminated. After much deliberation with his peeps, he was told to take the termination option in hopes of suing the city for wrongful termination. However, rumblings from the law department say his pleas have fallen on deaf ears. He was an at will employee and no reason was needed for termination and therefore, he is out of luck with any such complaint of wrongful termination whatsoever. Truth be told, I'm sure he is just upset that his brothel has been closed! Will we miss his slimy, nasty old pimp suit wearing self moseying around the building, NO! So, let's all just be happy that he is gone and keep our fingers crossed that the trouble he has caused and was a part of here will disappear as quickly as he did.

How did it happen? Who landed it on him? Escorted out of the building? Cleaned out his office? Driven home or had to take the bus and stood at the bus stop in front of the building? Anybody smiling? Anybody crying? We don't get to see this stuff on nights!

Hey back at you 16:10. You are the one who decided to provide the service, so either provide it or shut it down like the other cry baby did and don't get offended when someone calls you out for not doing what you committed to.

According to the Sun-Times article20 May 08, Russell Simmons was fired on friday.

So when did Ronald change his name to Russell ??? hahahaaha!

This is public knowledge now. Why keep referring to just initials.

I thought I would be glad that some needed changes were finally being made, but, it has just dawned on me that no one person is secure in this building. It seems to me that RS was given his job just so that he could be let go as an at will employee. There is no leadership that will be able to stand up to the bean counters that claim the building is fully staffed. Be prepared for denial of time due, required working of your days off and mandatory extensions of tours because some little J/O with a cell phone wants to play crank yankers. I was not a fan of RS but I really believe he went to meetings at city hall and tried to convince anyone who would listen that we truely are under staffed. The same goes for BO and MK, and if MK couldn't get anyone to listen with her clout, no one will ever be able to convince them.

Everyone shutup that is why we never get anything accomplished in this place! WE CAN"T STICK TOGETHER!!! I am assuming that blogmaster is a dispatcher or calltaker, he or she isn't committed to anything or anyone for that matter, he or she is doing us a favor by providing a place to type our opinions, I don't know about any of you but when I leave that place the last thing I want to do is come home and write about it. So blogmaster you keep this blog up and running if you can. Let someone step up to the plate if all they can do is complain. As for news, if you all want news, read a paper or turn on the tv. The way I look at it, we are all in the same boat. Let's help each other instead of hatin each other.

We'll get our chance to stick together tomorrow. JA will be present at all roll calls tomorrow to talk about "sweeping" changes that is going to take place. So, start writing down your questions, complaints and wish lists now. Let's see if he will be any better for this place than any of the others before him.

Simmons was not escorted out....heard this from a supv.
The motorola stuff all part of the Stan doing (let go for misapproprating of funds, etc)....also from the mouth of a supv.

Now, maybe J-Fed will appoint another of his fed buddies to sit on the 4th flr here... if you really paid attention to his contract with city for that big fat salary..........we are under his management/control!

Things did run a lot better when we were still considered part of the CPD.

The new aerial view map is part of the new stuff in store for us! Check it out on zone 1. The whole new set up is more involved to pull up the 3270 screens, the new event windows have very small print , and the map doesn't show street name when you zoom in a lot. My initial reaction: forgetaboutit!

  • At 21 May, 2008 04:36 , Anonymous Anonymous said...

All the Motorola stuff happened when Huberman was at the helm and it was his girl Adrian who was in charge of the $2 million payment, not Stan. He was long gone by the time all that happened. Like him or not, JA has done alot of good around here and its sad if he's being used as an escape goat for someone else's wrong doing. But as well all know, that's politics!

What about the call takers? What's wrong with them? Why is it that we can get every little description about a car for a parker (when it's legally parked) but on shots fired calls or other priority 1 type calls we get nothing. How many times have we passed the offenders as they flee only to put out a flash too late because the call takers do not know what kind of questions to ask and they do not pass along all of the important information to the dispatchers.

    http://www.suntimes.com/technology/961331,CST-NWS-fired21.article

and now the Suntimes is reporting that a deputy director was demoted or stripped of responsibilities by JA for whistleblowing, and then reinstated by the inspector general.

Looks like JA is gonna take a hit for this. Too bad because him I liked, and I was optimistic about him. But punishing a whistleblower ain't the smartest move ever.

  • At 22 May, 2008 08:46 , Anonymous Anonymous said...

The inside scoop from City hall is JA didn't punish a "whistleblower". All that came down when Ruiz was still here. He promoted the guy within the first two weeks of being ED and then demoted him the day before his last day here because he turned out to be nothing but a troublemaker and it was verified he was responsible for going to the media about alot of the stuff that caused Ruiz heat. The paperwork about the demotion didn't reach it's intended until a week after Ruiz was taken out. Remember, we can't believe everything we read/hear. Let's just keep our eyes/ears open and hope for the best. At least the guy is trying to make some small changes to help turn things around here.

To 21 May 19:02. Lay off the call takers. I assume you are a dispatcher who probably doesn't take calls often. It's hard to get info from screaming, shocked, and panic filled people. Of course someone can call after they've walked the street looking for parking violations and written every thing down. If you've ever been shot at; in the midst of a shoot out; or even in an a/a, you are in shock. The last thing you are thinking is I need to get a description. So remember that the next time you criticize someone else for the job they do everyday!!!!

I think you need to RE-READ 21 May 19:02's entry. You know, the one YOU were criticizing.

It says "How many times have we passed the offenders as they flee, only to put out a flash too late........."

Sounds to me like that was written by a police officer. So why don't you stop criticizing the dispatchers? Besides, that person has a VALID point!!!

Lately we've been getting a LOT of hot jobs like Shots Fired or Battery In Progress, and the ONLY thing written in the remarks is "shots fired" or "people fighting" !! Well NO SHIT ---- we knew that already by the EVENT TYPE!
    Where are the descriptions?

** On a side note, YES we as dispatchers know that an excited caller cannot always give you descriptions, but at least put something in the remarks to let us know that you TRIED! thank you

He was the fire supervisor who sued the city and won - it finally forced the jags to open the employee entrance instead of making everyone go around to the front of the building. He is also the goof who calls when you are dropping off foods at holidays complaining that you are blocking the handicapped parking spaces and inisits that a citation be issued even though you finished unloading your car and have moved it.

I personally saw JA at Sox park on Saturday and no, he is not packing up. He is still firmly in place. Dorsey Ruley is a paraplegic in a wheel chair who is currently on the OEMC payroll but has an office at City Hall. He works on contracts. He orginally started at BIS. They couldn't take him anymore and pushed him off to the controllers office. They couldn't take him either and they pushed him off on the OEMC, thanks to Zoufel, when AV was ED. AV had nothing but trouble with him but could not push him off on anyone before he left. Ruiz became friendly with him (Ruiz & wife went out with him on his boat and had several dinners with him) also until he got on his nerves and he stopped him from coming to the section head meetings on Tuesdays. This is where all the trouble started. He was furious he was not being treated like a top person of importance any longer and he started going to the media and caused Ruiz alot of heat. Ruiz would have pushed him off on another department too but he didn't last long enough. He is a miserable human being who uses his handicap to get his way because not one single person wants to deal with all the trouble and confusion that comes with trying to do something with him and everyone is wise to him now and you could not pay another City department to take him off your hands.

You started out with two lies!

One, JA probably was not at Cellular Field. Why would he go to a place where he could not sit down? His fat ass would not fit in a seat! Unless he stood for the whole game, I doubt he was there.

Two, Ruley is not a paraplegic. He is a full blown quadraplegic.

Three, how in the fuck would you know that Ruiz was on Ruley's boat? And what boat? Ruley can't wipe his ass, much more drive a boat! If he ever fell off a boat, he couldn't even save himself! He'd sink like a stone.

    And:

Wouldn't know him if he came up and bit me on the bottom.

    25 May, 2008 12:53

Ruley isn't able to bite anyone on the bottom unless you shove it in his face.

  • At 25 May, 2008 23:02 , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Why you hate JA so much? What you said, regardless of if you think it is true or not, was not very nice. He WAS at Sox park on Saturday. Ask traffic, they parked him on Shields. As far as Dorsey goes, paraplegic, quadraplegic, whatever, he is in a wheelchair end of story. Ruiz was bragging all over the building about being on his boat with his wife. He said it was a very nice boat and there were 4 guys that ran it for him and took care of him when he wanted to take it out. Probably used some of the $$ he's gained from the lawsuits he's filed to purchase it. Try not to be so hateful because someone made a mistake. You can still get the jest of what's wrong with the guy.

Hate JA? No, but still wonder if he passed his ethics test, the test we all took where the computer does not allow you to fail? Got news for you, JA still failed. Then he took the Motorola version and passed! The clock is ticking on his career. There's more to come. Stay tuned!

Yes I am the police. And Yes I am frustrated with the info I am given when responding to hot calls. Usually nothing. I understand that people are in shock and can not give you much info ( I see them and deal with them and the ones who did not call 911; the ones who are more messed up then the ones who had enough sense to call 911) That is why you as the call taker need to ask important questions to give the police a hint as to who the offenders are or what to expect when they arrive.
Also some people do not mind if they are not anon, so get their info so when you don't ask the right info we can ask for a call back so we can do our job or get the critical piece of info you forgot to ask.
Or so they don;t call back asking why the police didn't show up because you didn't tell us they were in room 3d or a 20 unit building.
Also why do we need to respond to every idiot who calls 911, many of the calls I get dispatched are not police matters. What crime is it when you can not get your six year old to go to school? Why must I go with fire to a 70 yr old having chest pains? Why am I needed for barking dogs, traffic helicopters being too loud over head, or people sitting in their cars warming them up in winter?
Just asking for a little help. I would love to catch the bad guy instead of realizing I passed him 2 minutes earlier, or be there to see it for myself instead of being stacked with a bunch of bull shit jobs that are not a police issue.

Sorry if you are upset by the kind of assignments you are given. Some of them i will agree with you on, that you should not be sent to barking dogs or parents who can't handle a 4yr old. I must inform you that there are no policies in place that allow the calltaker to refuse to process and send to dispatch such calls. As far as obtaining necessary info on offenders or vehicles, its not like the attempt isn't made to gather such information but many times the caller either does not have such info or will argue with the calltaker as to why they are being asked, "just send the police" they will say. Rather than argue with the caller about the need for such information and get a complaint filed against them the calltaker will simply forward what information they have. I would forther suggest that there needs to be a re-education of the public that 911 is not to be called for barking dogs, ill-mannered 4yr olds, etc. Maybe then we can all do our jobs a lot better.

  • At 29 May, 2008 10:48 , Anonymous Anonymous said...

There needs to be a review of the caller wanting to remain anonymous. No caller should be allowed to remain anonymous regarding any 10-1, persho, shotsf, batip, perhlp, or burgip. A caller may refuse to provide their info, but the cli-ani info should be put on the ticket so that dispatchers can determine if the same cell phone keeps calling in bogus calls all day. under this CAD system a frequent 911 caller should automatically be identified so he can be determined to be a crank yanker or is he just someone who needs to get a life because he/she is constantly calling.

  • At 29 May, 2008 12:05 , Anonymous Anonymous said...

    29 May, 2008 07:42

Simple answer. Litigation. The first time you have a call taker make a decision to not forward the complaint for dispatch because of the caller's ridiculous complaint or because they could not extensively interview the caller because of screaming or the caller hung up, and it turns out the original incident quickly escalated to something way beyond the original ridiculous complaint, can you say MSNBC, CNN, every channel on television and radio, over and over and over again. And who or what would take the heat? Not the CPD! The call taker is going to be crucified and the OEMC is blasted, again, and again, and again. And what would the honchos at CPD say when interviewed, THAT THE CALL SHOULD HAVE BEEN SENT FOR DISPATCH PER THE CPD DISPATCH POLICY! Why? Because the respective dispatch policies are authored, owned, and are the responsibility of CPD and CFD, to modify, alter, change and enhance as THEY see fit. They, CPD and CFD, tell us what to dispatch. If you want to beef, you should have beefed to J-FED and Aunt Bea at one of the meetings, not to us or OEMC as a whole.

Are you kidding me, he going no where fast. Everything that's been said about him is unraveling. It has been proven that Huberman's clan signed all the stuff being referred to in the contract issues and Dorsey has just been handed a sexual harrassment complaint for some inappropriate comments he made. Like alot of folks have said, what goes around comes around sooner or later. So maybe he will stop and think before he spreads more untrue rumors about all the changes he untruthfully disclosed to the Sun Times that took place regarding his "duites" and how he was (NOT) demoted (he has same title now he has always had since being shoved off on the OEMC under AV) because of being a whistle blower. All that has been proven to have happened under Ruiz's watch. He caused Ruiz so much heat it was too funny. It may be disappointing but looks like JA's here a little while longer.

10 June, 2008 11:30, you are sooo wrong, JA does know how to play by the rules, HIS RULES! lol He's acting ED, but still is involved in everything. He has his untrained, and extremely unqualified minions doing his bidding, and all reporting back to him, not sharing any info with anyone, except him.

You wanna know why there's no training on the new system? It's because he'd have to share info with everyone. And once that was done, everyone would see that the self proclaimed "Technology Expert" was just a fraud. He, and his minions, wouldn't know technology if it bit them on the ass.

Do you know for absolutely positively certain without a doubt that what you say is true or did you just hear it from someone else or read about it? Just curious and would like to know the factual truth about all this

You have to agree after awhile that is what it sounds like. Seem to get stuck on stupid stuff and not focus on something that will actually be helpful. If you don't like things like the new map, tell someone that can help make it better don't complain about the one who brought it to you to try to help you. Tell them what would make it work for you and maybe, just maybe, they will be able to do something that would be beneficial to all of us. How about the new chairs, don't see anyone on here talking about those. Everyone complained and complained and now, finally, we have a few choices but no, not a single person is on here discussing that, something that will actually make our job more comfortable. I just don't get it. If you are that upset about all that you say goes on here, why not look for something else to do. I know some days are really rough but come on already, most days are just ordinary and you get through them. You have to be tough to do this job, so why not show it sometimes and not complain so much unless you have a plan on how to make it better or at least try.

What the calltakers have to say (when arguing with a complainant) is sir/ma'am I need more information for the officers who are responding for their and your safety. It doesn't matter wether they heard you or not because it will be on the tape. No one, and I mean no one will fault any calltaker for trying to get as much information as possible for officer safety which is EVERYONE'S number one priority on the 3rd floor (remember training). Even if it sounds like you're arguing with them. Ci's come down? Well according to the tapes, you were worried about officer safety so you asked as many questions as you possibly could. It's all about how a calltaker words the questions and the comments and not necessarily about what questions are being asked. If nothing works, then it would only take an extra 30 seconds to type something like this in the remarks, "Uncooperative caller refused to give any more information." That tells the officers that they might want to use caution because the caller is uncooperative and they might encounter a very irrate individual. Fuck the stats and or how fast you take the calls. It's not about the quantity, it's about the quality. I understand it's a tough job because I took calls for 3 years before I became a dispatcher. But I'm sick and tired of the excuses that are constantly being used now a days. "But they don't want to give us any info" or "they hung up on me" or "they just kept screaming at me." So fucking put that on the ticket! Why is that so hard to do? I know why. LAZYNESS. How can people do a half ass job, get paid for it and then have the nerve to complain about anything? This is coming from someone who got only one ci in 10 years and it was because of bullshit that happened on the zone. Not because I yelled at the citizens when I had to in order to do my job the wright way.
