Change is coming

Bosses had a meeting, lots said. Most of it is what everyone should be doing already ie, come to work on time, wear a nice looking proper uniform, no eating, take the calls, get the jobs out. That all sounds easy right?
Swap program? That actually sounds like a good idea. I think this all might be good, any one agree?

Ace Reporter Phil Schitz just discovered your blog and likes it.

How could they layoff that many people? Phil needs the scoop!

I work for you so you can see your kid graduate, or whatever reason you need to be off. You repay me by working for me so I can see my kid graduate, or whatever the reason I need to be off.

Sounds great, but it is frought with problems. Once the union jumps in and the finance guru guy at the other building gets involved and law screams bloody murder, it will not happen.

The only way it could happen is if it was on the down low, and there ain't no down low around here! Somebody will grieve or beef that they want overtime for the time they spent or some such other thing, sure as I am fed up with.............about twenty different things on the floor. The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Who is that dispatcher on zone6 midnights. She needs to get a clue. May is in the 7th district my dear so stop sending 8th district cars into englewood. When the beat car asks if you meant to send them into the 7th district to handle a job maybe you should pay attention and realize your mistake. Same voice making same mistakes for the last week. You need to pay attention. You constantly screw up and then when corrected by sgt or beat car you laugh at your mistakes over the air. You are our lifeline out there and we police officers need to know you are capable of doing your job God forbid something happens to us and you are not capable. Try dispatching on zone1 or something first or just stay awake and pay attention that may help too. Just needed to vent. To the regular dispatcher J. I thanks for always doing a great job tell your partner to pay attention or she's going to get someone killed. Wait don't tell her that getting an officer killed may actually be her goal.

Officer safety is our goal. If she is repeatedly making the same mistakes, you need to have your sgt call the OEMC watch mgr & bring it to his/her attention so they can monitor the radio & resolve the problem or remove her from Z6. Very few dispatchers will tell their supv that their "partner" is careless/inept at their duties. I personally have had to do this and was fortunate enough to have him/her reassigned to another zone, but not without the help of both districts sgts calling up to complain.

    Summer is just starting....stay safe.

To be replaced by who? I think he's a pretty decent guy. Yeah not perfect, but who is? At least he knows what it's like to be a call taker and a dispatcher. He's been there. He was also in the old room and we need someone on the 4th floor who has a sense of history of what has gone on over the years on the Police side. Some people want him out for just that reason. He knows a lot about the shenanigans of some people who have been around for a while.

... Is this the new dispatcher trying to defend herself by dissing 'J'? Nice. None of the police officers even knew you were new! Good way to give yourself up. Look, instead of trying to defend yourself on here, while don't you just do a little studying and do a better job on the zone? That way no one will have to post stupid crap like this.

Were you in the old room? JA was too low level and too busy vomiting to know the shenanigans of the old time bosses. He was a horseshit runnner, incompetent at the call taking position and a nervous wreck when dispatching, so he doesn't know much about our job either. He is not here to help us, he is here to help himself and RMD and screw everybody that gets in his way. He will do anything to preserve his income, which is an income he is not qualified to receive, here or anywhere else. I do not count him as our friend and you are a fool if you count him as a friend to the floor.

I DONT SEE ANYONE GIVING KUDOS TO THE DISPATCHER THAT WAS ON THE ZONE LAST SUNDAY NIGHT....KUDOS TO YOU KRISTY FOR A JOB WELL DONE.....

Yeah I was in the old room and my recollection is JA was highly thought of as a calltaker and dispatcher. he was almost viewed as some kind of prodigy and people had a lot of respect for him. How else could he have made it from his very low level to where he is now. He must have impressed somebody when he was a low level employee and it could not have been just political clout, because he wasn't from Chicago. He does know the shenanigans of some old time employees because he came up in the room with them. He heard all the gossip and stories like all the rest of us who have been around for awhile. He heard about who was sleeping with who and who got what CI numbers and who dodged a bullet and who didn't. He knows a lot about people who are bosses and who are not bosses. He knows where a lot of stuff is coming from.

I've just come to your blog after a long time. Some of the comments are way off color towards the dispatchers. I am a PO in a citywide unit. I will say I have communicated with many dispatchers on many zones and on the city wide. I have always had a good experience. As far as some of the PO's you deal with, I would be pulling my hair out. Over and over again, I hear the same idiots asking for lunch or a personal when all hell is breaking loose and the dispatchers are trying to keep the air clear. Some things never change. That and the PO's who switch over to order a ET or a body removal and have no clue what they are doing. If I worked Citywide2, I'd be fired in a day for cussing the fools out. I just want to say from my experience you guys and gals do a great job with what you have to work with. Constant RAPS, cars that refuse to come up to back up a 99 unit on an in progress and the rest of the BS you put up with. Then begging someone to go on a 1A call and there is just silence. Maybe instead of GPS in many of the cars, they should have installed a cattle prod on the drivers seat. 1 push of the button and maybe they would get the message. Kudos to you. Keep up the great job. I wouldn't do what you do for the world. It's funny because I will come up if a call is close and someone needs a back up. No one else comes up, but 3 extra cars show up at the scene. The PO's that bitch the most are the biggest dogs. Take it with a grain of salt. You are appreciated.
