Careful....you might need funds raised for you too sooner than you think. What is this all about? Can't support if we don't know where it's going. Please advise.
I work at OEMC during week days and weekends depending on my schedule and NO, I am not a dispatcher or call taker. Just to give you a hint so you're not guessing, I work at the CIC/OC on the 3rd floor. I have noticed that Dispatchers Call takers, Supervisors and Watch Commanders have been taking advantage of bring family members to OEMC on the weekends. It looks like Navy Pier here at times when family members let their kids run around the atrium. At one instant a kid around 13 years of age entered the CIC because the door was not working at that time and strolled around the CIC and the OC. When I asked him to identify himself, he said he was a family member of one of the supervisors and was told he could walk around and take a look at the cameras views displayed at the OC. Well I walked him out of the CIC and out to the atrium where there was approximately 15 visitors standing around talking as well as kids running jumping on the furniture. My concern is that there is no policy in place addressing family member visits here at OEMC whether it's on the week days or weekends. It seems that the weekend staff takes advantage that the Executive Director is not around, though I see him early at times on the weekends. I also spoke to a member of the technical staff on the second floor about this and he also addressed his concern on these more frequent visits. Various times they have been getting tours to the Telecom room on the second floor as well as the NMC. I thought this place was supposed to be high security facility. What happened at the 3rd District is eventually going to happen here at OEMC. As family members are walking touring OEMC unsupervised on the weekends, the potential of somebody breeching security is highly likely to happen. I walked over to the fire side and look towards the police side and observed kids sitting on a call takers lap as she handled calls on the floor, I thought this was very unprofessional. I probed around to find out if there's a policy in place; I was told Mr. Argiropoulos has given ok to do so. Well, that says it all. I don't care that family members are here on the weekend but they should supervised and not let stray to walk the facility. Apparently the Watch Commander as well as the Supervisors have approved these visits on the weekends but we need to assure that the proper policies are in place to address these family visits. The next time I see one of your kids walk in my domain, I will make sure I send a letter up to the Director. I'm sure he would like to know.
You think that kids running around are a breach of security?? My friends, let me tell you a tail.
Months ago, there was the Arab conference here, in our fair city. The delegates, especially the ones from countries that are on the US Watch List for terrorism, were all given tours of Chicago, and most notably, the lovely OEMC.
Now, these people were not allowed to see everything, and "sensitive areas" were skipped on the tour. But, they did receive a "nice" tour of our facilities, and even our UCV.
Some of the tour guides made sure that these people were not taking pictures of the place, but knew that some people were sneaking pics of our office. And one guide, the do-no-wrong work wife of the big guy, actually encouraged people to take pictures! If my memory serves me correctly, she actually took a group shot for the people, so everyone, (and everything), could be in the frame!!
I agree completely that in a supposed "high security" building, nobody should be unescorted. Every visitor should be screened prior to the tour. If something like this is being violated, even from high up, it should be reported, and the ones who ok'd it should be reprimanded. But we all know that if it concerns the big guy, nothing is going to be done about it at all. I don't know about you, but that certainly does scare me!!
Send it to the first deputy ! Ha Ha ! that's the guy who is letting happen ! He's afraid of the call takers and dispatchers complaining to him about anything. They run circles around him. Big Cirles !

He's afraid of them....one of two things can be said about this statement
1. You are high 2. Do dragons live in your fairytale land?
yes, but not before he checked with ja and ja said "go ahead, but remember I run this place" to which ray said "thank you, and can i squeeze off a drop, warden?"
Screw whoever is saying that AM is off her meds. What the hell does that have to do with anything?! You are a jerk for spreading shit for no reason. Get a life moron
And these cops think they can handle the Olympics? Look how crime is out of control in this town. They should just bring in the Feds and let them run the police dept.
mr im not a dispatcher or call taker, those of us who are dispatchers and call takers dont bring our kids to the oemc on weekends, get your facts right, why would we bring our kids to that hell hole and further more can those of you who watch those stupid camera's fight some real crime to report instead of people selling loose cigarettes and drinking from paper bags or my favorite the food vender on the corner without a license. How do you know if he has a license or not what is he suppose to do hold it up to the camera all day so you old need to retire coppers can see it.
bullshit. you lie. that poster told the truth about dispatchers and call takers using oemc and the atrium for interim child care on the weekends. gramma or auntie drops them off or they are brought back after lunch and there they stay until momma gets off of work. seen it many times. just because you want to insult a retired police officer doesn't make what was said any less so. besides, how do you know it was a police officer? there are a butt load of civilians over there also that have seen the atrium being used as an unsupervised child care center.
At 2230hrs. on Zone 1 a true display of CLASS was heard for all to listen. “1600” …..”Good morning sir” …..“May I have the air for a moment” ….”Go ahead Tony” Commander Anthony Riccio went on to say ..............................

Come to think of it why doesn't the CPD have folks detailed to the OC as well????? With all the fireman walking around you would think we work at a firehouse. A little balance please... #3 The only time I've seen a kid in the building is on payday when the parent can't leave the child in the car and run into the building to pick up her/his check. #4 Is all the banter due to a child disturbing a slepping S&S worker in the Atrium??? Keep in mind we now have so many units in our building who knows who belongs and where they work? Don't assume it's all about the 911 folks.
NOT TRUE, HOWEVER, THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES AUTHORIZED TO CONTACT THE ZONE ABOUT AN INCIDENT REQUIRING THE POLICE.

To the person that works across the hall..today on 3rd watch, at about 4 pm or so..someone from ACROSS THE HALL, brought her 3 kids and an adult family member into the building and on the ops floor..so it's not just the ops floor personnel
