I knew I was off duty so I was not going to stick my neck on the line, but sometimes as a police officer you know if you dont take action something bad was going to happen. So even after letting 911 know I was off duty and almost ran off the road this is the police service I get. I know it was not a 10-1 situation but what the hell does an off duty need to do to get help??? Something has to change before one of us gets killed off duty, I couldnt stick around to find out what happened, even though I was carrying, I could picture the media field day,..."OFF DUTY shoots and kills unarmed man after a road rage incident" I really hate being the police in this day and age... PLEASE CAN ANYONE HELP US BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE??? WTF!!
People have died and property lost - all because the EDs - including pretty boy Ron - didn't want to fight to hire the staff needed. When he appointed Ronny to head up the Chicago Public School, he said that he never has to worry at night with Ron. Who is he kidding?
There is absolutely no accountability in City government. Unless the feds pull someone out by the ear nothing gets done. All the while the mayor thinks we will forget everything due to the excitement over the Olympics. I want to puke.
you can thank your fellow officers for not responding. we read out the detail to follow tickets that come to the zone and let them know the situation and yes we also let them know off duty is involved. unfortunately if we don't have any units up and clear and no one wants to clear up for that you my friend are sol. we can't take someone off a priority job to handle your hit and run situation....being off duty you should also know that you should get the license number and not follow the idiot who tried to run you off the road. he may be carrying too and poss drunk or high on drugs. it's not a life or death situation if you are following the offender that damaged your property, and unfortunately our hands are tied because according to the sop's we are to dispatch according to priority of the jobs. another thing you should know is that there is a short lag time between turn by turn directions coming out of your mouth, going into the call takers ears, and then coming over on the ticket for dispatch....so it's hard for the po's out there to catch up with you and get help out to you. that is why we are also told to advise the caller to stop and wait for police and to stop following the offender. do not put yourself in danger like that you never know what could have happened.
