Where's the manual?
Ok so kinda nice new map, but how can you just toss this whole thing at us without some sort of training or guide to help us? By the way the font is going to take a lot of getting use to, it appears to be much smaller than before. Help!!!!!!!!!!!

there are some glitches with the new maps and system that need to be addressed asap. most people are complaining about the same things, who do we send our input to so that our concerns don't get "lost in the mail". so far i hear send comments to supv who will forward to w/m who will talk to supv of whatever and so on. is there a specific person we can directly go to so that things are handled as quickly and painlessly as possible.

The NMC people were not trained on the new set up yet either! The tech that came to my console didn't get the change made , so she called the "programmer" who was able to make the correction from his computer in his office ......in wonderland!

OT and well, off the police blog...
I just wanted to pipe in real quick here to thank you all for the job you do. And after doing some reading, it's easy to see we are ALL dealing with the same uninformed morons.
OEMC has it's dogs, we all know that - just as CPD does. Both sides of the radio has it's problems. We all have our crosses to bear with bitchy citizens to incompetant bosses. I know it's tough, but we're all on the same team here. Each of us can make life easier or tougher for the other.
Biggest issue we have - volume. Please - have your volume turned up. The horrible feedback when a PO keys up is due to us having to crank up our volume to hear you guys n gals. Oh - something else I found out chatting with our dispatchers that apparently isn't common knowledge up there. Open keys... yes - I hear your groans now, lol - the dreaded open key (though some of the conversations can be pretty funny/entertaining). When our mic is keyed - we don't hear anything. So, when the dispatcher starts yelling (I know, you're trying to clear the air) - the person who is causing it doesn't have a clue, they can't hear you. Make the announcement a coupla times - and if the knucklehead keyed up doesn't realize it please get the radio number and call the district. Most often someone will have a way to reach that person.
Again, sorry to intrude. I know it doesn't always seem that way, especially with summer here and call volume through the roof, you are appreciated. You not only dispatch jobs, but are our lifeline if things turn to shit. Thank you again. Your job is a valuable one - not just a paycheck.
back to your regularly scheduled map/manual quandry

we say open key because maybe their partner will hear us and tell them to get a clue

sometimes it's not easy to pinpoint the radio number, cuz when we say open key over the radio...everyone starts to key up to see if its them....and we hope that someone around you might have a radio and you will hear the message to check your key.
