Good luck future Supervisors

Anyone hear any news? Was the test challenging? Was the test predictable? Anyone care to share their experience or info on what happens now?

it was bullshit..just like the last test..answer sheet had to be filled out in pencil even though it was NOT a scantron. WHY? So they can change the answers of the people they want to promote?

How about a power test? Since Jody is your boss now has he ever spoke about dispatchers doing a power test too?

No offense to my fellow employees, but a required power test would considerably THIN the herd, probably by half. It would eliminate half of the competition. I vote YES because I took the test and I am height-weight proportionate. How many took the test?

Power test? Who really thinks anyone here cares about our health?? How many people have walked in the door healthy and developed some kind of health issue? The job is stressful and the work place mismanagement adds more stress. Who remembers the glory days of having lunch and break cancelled then being mandated. 12 hours of work no break. Just look around the room and see
the toll it has exacted. Diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, mental illness, obesity and how many people get a genuine 7-8 hours sleep? This place is making a lot of people sick. Being healthy is the exception rather than the rule. You might be height and weight proportionate but your brain has atrophied. Power test this you twit. If you think that passing a power test is any kind of criteria for being a supervisor than you are exactly the type of person
that does not deserve to be a supervisor. No offense to you either.

So they should continue to promote the slovenly, overweight, mouth-breathing, mentally challenged goofs of recent past? At least somebody that has the fortitude to keep themselves height-weight proportionate, despite the extreme challenges of our job, might have a healthier mental attitude and approach to the ops floor. I'm just saying. No offense if you are one of the described.

The they of which you speak who did all the promotions are all gone. And they promoted people they thought they could control and to their credit the newly promoted banded together and unionized so they they wouldn't be under the thumb of mismanagement. Hurray for them.

    24 September, 2008 22:53,

You think "they", whoever that is, thought they could control the last class of supervisors, the 10 minus 1 class? How?

Look at the stats. Five women, of which three are African-American, one is Caucasian, and the one that declined the promotion and stuck it to one of us by taking the spot and then turning it down after it was too late to replace her, was/is a Caucasian with a Hispanic surname.

And five men, of which three are Caucasian men and two are Hispanic men. It was said there were no African-American men that survived the process, hence there were none in the race to be successfully promoted.

Anybody can see, "they" were trying to ensure an ethnic and gender balance in the newbie group of promotions, not control.

And as far as the unionization of the supervisors, it appears the catalysts were watch assignments, vacation picks, and management ensuring there was no all male supervisor watch, no all female supervisor watch, no all Caucasion supervisor watch, no all African-American supervisor watch, or no all Hispanic Supervisor watch. Plus, it seems some of the oldbie supervisors felt they should not be moved from the watch spot they "owned", and management should just work around their blatant acts of favoritism and supervisory inadequacies.

So, if the assignment of watches and vacations for supervisors are subject to contractual rights and seniority, management is out of the fray, and blameless if the result comes out looking bad and not ensuring diversity or adequate coverage. It works for both the supervisors and management. That just my view as I look over the top of the console.

Power tests? They should have them for all Americans. How about testing the welfare folks? They seem to be eating well. Add a random piss test for them too.

Hey blogmaster! How about putting this up for comment! It contains Patty Feely at the pension board commenting about Ron Huberman trying to combine CPD time with CTA time to draw a fatter pension.

So what's the word on who passed the Supv. test and who didn't? Is there a list? Can it be made public? I'm curious as to the pool of "eligible" people who are in the running to possibly be my future supervisor.
